DraftKings NBA Post Slate Value Report 12-06-2019
In this article I will be reviewing the four game slate on DraftKings for 12-05-2019
Sixers @ Wizards
Wizards drove the tempo up in this one and were able to pull out a six point win. Embiid and Harris crushed value while Ben Simmons barely reached 5x. I made a mistake in going to Simmons tonight because it fit my construction. Thybulle also had a solid outing off the bench
providing 23.75 points on DK. Thybulle notably played 11 more minutes than starter Furkan Korkmaz who has yet to put together much in Josh Richardson's absence.
On the Wizards side of things this slate was made interesting by their news once again. First Jordan McRae listed out, who was getting great minutes and usage off the bench. Then later in the day we get the news that Isiah Thomas was also going to miss some games. This made Ish Smith a lock across the board driving up his ownership which likely started out the day as minuscule and rose to over 30% across GPPs on DraftKings. Bradley Beal was fine turning in a 5X performance but the real story was Smith as well Hachimura. Hachimura ended up as the best overall value on the team with Smith both hitting over 10X. Hachimura was interesting because last game Wizards were short on bigs making Hachimura a lock but in this case the return of Mo Wagner and the debut of Mahinmi caused the waters to get a little murky at the front end of the court. This much is now clear is that Hachimura is the true alpha of that frontcourt as long as Thomas Bryant is out and Hachimura's price is down, he will be in play on nearly every slate.
Rockets @ Raptors
The Raptors brought it here but it was not quite enough to hold off The Rockets. In a rare event Russell Westbrook outscored James Harden by 9 DK points. Harden was a heavy burden for his owners who returned only 47 DK points for his 12k pricetag. The Rockets overall were very valuable with PJ Tucker and Ben McLemore crushing for around 10X value. Also down lower from them Austin Rivers and Danuel House had respectable 6x performances which on some slates would do you okay but not on this one.
Nuggets @ Knicks
Nuggets came in and destroyed from minute one. Only three players from Denver did not hit value and those players were Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic interesting enough and Torrey Craig but he doesn't count. The point is that this drives home the argument that in a blowout of this magnitude star players are not always likely to shine bright like a diamond. On the Knicks side Mitchell Robinson led this team in DK scoring with 33.25 DK Points, which for his price was a nice 6x, but that led the team, which is just gross. We cannot be excited or expecting any Knicks player to reach very high ceiling in any circumstance at this point.
Suns @ Pelicans
This ended up being the game to attack as it went into overtime and saw a total of 272 points scored. The Suns looked great here and defeated what many thought of as a better team in New Orleans. Brandon Ingram did miss a big portion of this game in foul trouble and then in the second half he went down with an injury, so he ended up not making value for the first time in a long time. Jrus Holiday and Lonzo Ball benefitted and combined for 105 Draftkings points. Behind them the pair of Redick and Hayes combined for 71 DK points. The Pelicans continue to be a profitable stack night in and night out.
For The Suns Devin Booker went James Harden and dropped 71 DK Points. While Ricky Rubio and Kelly Oubre combined for over 100 DK points themselves with Kaminsky and Cam Johnson behind them with a combined 70 plus DK Points. Once again for the kids in the back these are two teams that are going to have valuable pieces all season long.
