The Hawks brought in two top ten draft picks in 2019 in Cam Reddish and De'Andre Hunter. Hunter is figured to start at the 3 position while Reddish will spell off the bench at the 2 and 3 position. The two draftees will join the young stars already in place in Atlanta in Trae Young and John Collins. Hunter should make an immediate impact on defense while Reddish is going to be relied on for some bench scoring production along with some rebounds.
A few big departures for The Hawks, very notably Dewayne Dedmon, Dedmon left for Sacramento in free agency, leaving the sixth most minutes on the team while being the number 2 rebound threat behind John Collins. Alex Len looks to step into a bigger role as the starter at the 5 position. Len will be bumped from that spot from time to time by John Collins when The Hawks go with a smaller lineup. Atlanta brought in Damian Jones from Golden State for the true backup center duties. When Len held that spot behind Dedmon in 2018 it was good for around 20 mpg.
Allen Crabbe and Evan Turner come in and hope to provide some experience and depth in the middle court off the bench. Jabari Parker was also brought in but should not see significant floor time unless John Collins ends up out with an injury. Chandler Parsons is the last new face we will talk about, Parsons looks to be buried in the depth chart until further notice.
Deandre Bembry will be an interesting case to watch in 2019, Bembry was third on the team in minutes in 2018 due to a rash of injuries The Hawks saw during the season. He opens the year seemingly buried on the depth chart, so it will be something to see if the young wing can find his way onto the court for a comparable 2019 season. Notably Bembry led the team in steals during the 2018 campaign.
Trae Young and Kevin Huerter look to lead the team in three point attempts again this year, as The Hawks departed with over 1000 three point attempts while not adding the type of players to their roster that are known for their long ball ability. Vince Carter looks buried on the depth chart but with this being the "Vince Carter Retirement Tour" year I would hazard a guess that as long as his body can hold up we may see even more "Vinsansity" than originally expected due to the need for three point shooting.
Dwayne Dedmon was also second on the team in rebounds so that production will more than likely go to the new started Alex Len as well as new backup Damian Jones. Len was already just behind Dedmon in rebound production snatching up 424 boards compared to Dedmon's 480.
Trae Young and John Collins are perennial locks to see some major fantasy production this season. Alex Len can also join them there as being a threat to score a double-double on any given night assuming he stays healthy. Deandre Bembry and Deandre Hunter should also play pivotal roles defensively. Kevin Huerter is also a great under the radar three point shooter.
