NFL Week One Draftkings Stock Update

Well the Week One main slate has came and went and there were many surprises in store. All in all this was a great week to fade chalk for the most part as there was plenty of value to be had all across the board. In this piece I will take a look at a few key players for each position and compare their salary adjustments for next week's main slate of games.

QB

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson came into Week One as one of the lowest priced QBs at $5200. All in all, the price tag seemed fair due to Jacksons 2018 performances coming with a relitively low ceiling that he proceeded to absolutely smash through in week one. With a 36.56 Dk point performance that was good for the QB 1, ever so slightly above Dak Prescott. Draftkings has responded by raising his price tag to a considerable $6700 in week 2 for his matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. If Lamar Jackson can muster a repeat performance here he would be good for a 5x performance. Next up Jackson gets The Cardinals at home in Baltimore.

Case Keenum

Keenum finished as the QB 5 on this slate to the surprise of absolutely everybody. In all reality Keenum was only 6 points back from the QB 1 Lamar Jackson, above the likes of Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers and way above Russell Wilson and the much hyped Kyler Murray. Draftkings decided to raise his price a whole hefty $100 to 5K for his matchup next week at home against The Cowboys. Note that The Cowboys themselves unveiled quite the high powered offense so next weeks game I believe has shootout potential and Keenum is still floor salary this week.

RB

Austin Ekeler

The contract dispute dust has apparently settled on the south end of L.A. and The Chargers look to have secured a new lead back in Austin Ekeler. Ekeler went complete nuts and finished the day with 39.40 Draftkings points, which was good for the RB 2 behind one Christian McCafferey. Draftkings has responded by raising his price this week from $5500 up to $6100, seeing a $600 increase. 18 of Ekelers points came from TDs so this was definitely a spiked week, not sure we see a repeat of that performance so just keep in mind that at this pricing next week he needs to hit around a 27 DK point outing to hit a 4X value. He gets to go on the road to take on Detroit in Week 2.

Chris Carson

As many predicted Chris Carson saw the majority of work for the Seattle backfield in week one.
With Rashad Penny seeing a measly 5 carries. Carson was able to pick up 25 Draftkings points to make him the RB 8 on the main slate. Carson saw a price increase of $700 to get up a $6400 price tag for Week 2. Carson will take that pricing into a road game in Pittsburgh for Week 2. Carson is now a part of a very interesting price tier at RB for Week 2, joining the likes of James Connor, Joe Mixon, Leo Fournette, Sony Michel and the aforementioned Austin Ekeler.

WR

Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins we all knew was the WR 2 on what was figured to be the most dominant offense in the NFL once again this season. So Draftkings of course had him aptly priced at $5200 for Week 1. Of course Watkins smashed that projected salary by hitting an almost 10x return with 49.80 Draftkings points. Watkins saw huge benefit from the unfortunate injury early to Tyreek Hill combined with TE Travis Kelce being phased out of the game almost completely. Watkins price has jumped staggeringly a whole $2100 to a cool $7300 for Week 2. Watkins will be become the ipsto facto WR 1 for The Chiefs as they travel to Oakland. At this pricing we will not need him to even come close to this 50 point ceiling to be effective a cool 30 Draftkings points would be good for a 4x performance.

Michael Gallup

Gallup came into the week with a modest price tag of $4300 and after a solid outing that saw him come away with 25.80 Draftkings points his price has been raised effectively to $5600. The Cowboys offense was firing on all cylinders, its scary to think that Gallup had this performance on 7 Targets without even scoring a TD. Gallup and The Boys travel to Washington for Week 2 on what could be a sneaky little shootout of its own. At Gallups price we need a repeat performance or better to pay off at a 4x value.

TE

Mark Andrews

Relative to the field TE salaries did not move a whole lot in Week 2. Notably though we have the Ravens Mark Andrews who came into Week one with a floor mopping 3K price tag and smashed through that for just an almost 10x score or 27.80 Draftkings points. While Hayden Hurst was targeted 4 times, Andrews doubled that and also saw the endzone to help hit his mark. Draftkings raised Andrews price for Week 2 by $800, making him a lean mean $3800 and more importantly to put into DK Perspective, Only needs a 15 point game next week vs Arizona to pay off at a 4x score.
